Welcome to UKG Compose (Beta)

UKG Compose is a low-code workflow automation capability for UKG customers and teams that want to build, run, and manage custom business processes inside the UKG ecosystem.

Compose uses an embedded n8n workflow editor and runtime, giving users a visual way to design workflows while still supporting secure API-based execution and event-driven automation.

For this release, the primary focus is workflow automation. Users build workflows in the Compose editor using triggers, logic, and actions. Those workflows can be started manually, on a schedule, by webhook, or by supported UKG Pro events through the UKG Webhook Service.

Beta Disclosure

UKG Compose is currently available only to customers who have elected to participate in Beta testing.

Interested in joining? Pro HCM or WFM customers with a clear owner and the ability to run 1 to 3 real workflows are invited to join.

If interested, e-mail [email protected] or [email protected] with your workflow, target KPIs, and timing window.

What UKG Compose is for

UKG Compose is designed for teams that need to extend business processes without waiting for a fully custom build.

Typical users include:

  • HRIS power users who want to automate repetitive tasks, notifications, and routing logic
  • Professional Services and technical builders who need to configure customer-specific workflow solutions
  • Business process owners who want more flexibility across approvals, compliance, alerts, and downstream integrations

What you can do with UKG Compose

Common workflow categories include:

  • Notifications and alerts
  • Approvals and requests
  • Compliance and signal-based workflows
  • Collaboration and service integrations
  • Document and exception handling

Representative use cases include:

  • Wage or step progression checks
  • OSHA or safety compliance management
  • Employee facility management
  • Overtime or job change policy flags
  • Reimbursement routing with receipt capture and policy checks
  • ServiceNow ticket creation or update

These examples are meant to show patterns, not to limit what Compose can support. Compose is intended to help customers and services teams bring their own use case and implement it using the available workflow building blocks.

Entry points

For this documentation set, the primary entry point is embedded access from UKG Pro.

This first public doc set is optimized for:

  • Pro-only
  • Pro Suite

WFM Standalone Note: This documentation set is optimized for Pro-only and Pro Suite entry. UKG WFM standalone and FAPS-specific documentation will be added when those experiences become available.

Product packaging

UKG Compose is the product name.

This documentation set should include packaging guidance for:

  • UKG Compose Base
  • UKG Compose Premium
  • Compose Workflow Add-on
  • Concurrent Workflow Executions Add-on

At a high level, customers evaluating scalability-oriented use cases should expect Compose Premium and the Concurrent Workflow Executions Add-on to be the fit-for-purpose options for higher-scale workflow workloads.
