Access and Setup in UKG Pro
Prerequisites, permissions, and setup requirements for accessing UKG Compose from UKG Pro.
Access and Setup in UKG Pro
Note: Compose is only available for Beta testing. See Welcome to UKG Compose > Beta Disclosure for more information.
This page explains how users access UKG Compose from UKG Pro and what setup conditions must be in place before they can begin building workflows.
This page is focused on the Pro-first experience for:
- Pro-only
- Pro Suite
A separate WFM standalone and FAPS access model should be documented later.
Access Compose from UKG Pro
For many users, the primary way to access Compose is from within UKG Pro:
- Classic view: Compose appears under Configurations
- MX view: Compose appears within Application Setup
Because Compose is embedded into the UKG Pro experience, users do not need to authenticate separately when launching it from an existing Pro session.
Required access and permissions
Users must have the correct HCM security rights to use Compose in UKG Pro.
This page should document:
- Where Compose access is granted in HCM security
- The difference between Viewer Access, Editor Access, and Full Access
- Who typically receives each access level
- Any admin-only rights needed for setup versus workflow authoring
Platform prerequisites
Before a tenant can use Compose, there are two public-facing prerequisites that matter for this doc set.
UKG AuthN
For public documentation, the guidance should be simplified to:
- Tenants must be on the latest supported version of UKG AuthN
- Users access Compose through the standard UKG authentication experience
UKG Webhooks prerequisite for event-driven workflows
This prerequisite matters only when customers want workflows to start from supported UKG Pro events (see Webhook Triggers).
For public documentation, the guidance should be:
- If you plan to use the HCM Webhooks Trigger node, you must complete the UKG Webhooks prerequisite first
- If you are only building scheduled, manual, form, or direct webhook workflows, this prerequisite does not apply
What happens the first time a tenant uses Compose
On first access, Compose may perform one-time setup behind the scenes so the tenant and user can use the workflow experience.
In some environments, users may also see a Setup Workflow step before the workflow service is ready.
We should not expose deeper internal provisioning details here.
Supported access model for this doc set
This documentation set currently supports:
- UKG Pro-only
- UKG Pro Suite
