Standalone Access and CAC Login (Beta and Early Access)
Standalone application access using Customer Activation Codes and vanity URLs for Beta and Early Access tenants.
Standalone Access and CAC Login (Beta and Early Access)
Note: Compose is only available for Beta testing. See Welcome to UKG Compose > Beta Disclosure for more information.
This page explains how to access UKG Compose as a standalone application using a Customer Activation Code (CAC) or vanity URL. This access method is available for Beta and Early Access tenants.
Note: General Availability (GA) customers access Compose through UKG Pro (Classic or MX views). See Access and Setup in UKG Pro for the standard Pro-embedded access model.
Standalone Application Access
In standalone mode, Compose is accessed as its own application, separate from UKG Pro. Before a tenant can use Compose in standalone mode, the tenant must be registered and validated.
Customer Activation Code (CAC)
When accessing Compose for the first time in standalone mode:
- Navigate to the Compose standalone application URL.
- You are presented with a Customer Activation Code (CAC) login page.
- Enter either:
- Your tenant's Customer Activation Code (CAC), or
- Your tenant's vanity URL (for example:
compose.tenant123.com).
- Compose validates the tenant information against the TRex tenant registry.
- Once the tenant is confirmed, you are prompted to authenticate using your credentials.
Tenant Validation
After you provide the CAC or vanity URL:
- Compose verifies the tenant exists in the TRex tenant registry
- If the tenant is valid, Compose registers the tenant in its system
- The tenant registration is retained for future use
- If tenant verification fails, an error appears on the CAC login screen
User Authentication
Once the tenant is validated:
- You are prompted to authenticate through UKG AuthN (the UKG identity service)
- Authentication uses your standard UKG credentials
- No separate Compose-specific login is required
Consent Agreement (Beta/Early Access Only)
On your first login to Compose in standalone mode:
- You are presented with a mandatory consent agreement form
- You must accept the consent agreement to proceed
- After accepting, you are directed to the Compose home page
Note: The consent agreement requirement applies to Beta and Early Access tenants. General Availability (GA) customers using Pro-embedded access do not see this consent screen.
Differences from Pro-Embedded Access
Standalone access differs from the standard Pro-embedded access model:
| Aspect | Standalone Access (Beta/Early Access) | Pro-Embedded Access (GA) |
|---|---|---|
| Entry point | Separate Compose application URL | UKG Pro Classic or MX view |
| Login | CAC or vanity URL, then UKG AuthN | Single sign-on from Pro session |
| Tenant registration | Manual CAC/vanity URL entry | Automatic via Pro context |
| Consent agreement | Required on first login | Not required |
| Audience | Beta and Early Access tenants | General Availability customers |
When to Use Standalone Access
Standalone access is appropriate when:
- Your tenant is participating in Beta or Early Access programs
- You need to access Compose independently of UKG Pro
- You have been provided a CAC or vanity URL by UKG
For most customers, Pro-embedded access is the recommended and streamlined approach. See Access and Setup in UKG Pro for details.
