Modules & APIs

UKG HR Service Delivery platform includes the following main modules:

  • Document Manager – Actively manage employee documents, compliantly. Create, store, access, share, and delete employee files in one secure place, accessible on any device and available wherever you are.
  • People Assist – Empowers your HR team with a consumer-level employee experience. Makes it easy for HR to help employees, anytime, anywhere—from a simple question to complex events like maternity leave or cross-boarding. Offers built-in process automation to streamline HR workflows that span multiple systems.
  • Platform – Provides foundational UKG HR Service Delivery APIs covering configuration, settings, data imports, and more.

APIs are organized and prefixed by these product domains for clarity and structured access.

Access Control

UKG HR Service Delivery operates on the following principles:

  • A company’s organizational structure (legal, functional, or “virtual” groupings) is represented by an organization tree.
  • Employees are tied to organizations via employee numbers (they may belong to multiple organizations, even using different employee numbers).
  • Documents stored or distributed must be typed (e.g. payslip, time card), which limits access based on document classification.
  • Users (e.g., managers) log in with assigned profiles/roles, each with defined actions and document permissions (e.g. read-only, file, delete, share). For example, a "Pay Manager" may only access payslips.
  • A user's perimeter determines which organizations (possibly grouped or hierarchical) they can access.

Warning:
Each module may require distinct permissions: one for Document Manager, and another for Request Manager / Digital Process Manager (People Assist). Users needing access to both can link separate profiles through a unified account (via email/password or SAMLv2 Identity Provider).

Configuration and Data Synchronization

UKG HR Service Delivery modules must synchronize core data with the primary HR system (HRIS), including:

  • Organizations (company structure)
  • Employees (company directory)
  • User profiles:
    • Document Manager profiles (accessing document modules)
    • People Assist profiles (accessing request management modules)

Synchronization may occur via:

  • Structured file transfer (e.g., SFTP), or
  • REST API (web services)
